Shiseido ~ have you tried their makeup? – Unboxing Beauty

[ad_1]

Have you tried any makeup items from Japanese brand Shiseido?  Sephora carries some of their products and there is a Shiseido US online shop as well.  Shiseido  is one of the oldest cosmetic companies in the world, as it was founded in Ginza, Tokyo in 1872.  There are also many other Shiseido products that aren’t sold in the USA market, but you can find them on Japanese online shops, Amazon Japan and eBay.   I really love Shiseido’s makeup line and their brushes.  Here is just a taste of some products that I have purchased over the years and I hope to share more as I do own a lot of Shiseido.  All items were purchased and all reviews were originally posted on my Instagram account @colebiancardi

Skin Type/Concerns: oily, blemish prone, aging concerns, pores, fine lines/wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation

All reviews are my own honest opinion and  I never have been asked to write copy for a brand.  This blog post might contain promo codes, affiliate and referral links, which using my links will help generate a small commission that helps support my blog at no extra cost to you.

2018 Limited Edition Shiseido Maquillage Snow Beauty Powder Compact:  Maquillage is part of the Shiseido family and every year, they come out with a LE of their infamous Snow Beauty Powder Compact.  This is a pressed powder that is very finely milled and contains m-tranexamic acid,  an active brightening ingredient. It states that it will help suppress the production of melanin, prevent blemishes and freckles.  It can be used at night time as well ~ but I haven’t done that. I find that this powder is great for oily/combo skin, as it does provide a mattifying finish and it does leave a faint white cast which I can buff out. However, if you have dry skin or darker skin tones, this probably will not work very well for you.

I happen to love this powder as it feels beautiful on and my skin feels very soft. It doesn’t break me out nor does it settle in my fine lines. I do not use the two puffs that came with this product but my own finishing brush. I have to say I did purchase this for the compact, which is HUGE ~ it about the size of my palm and although it is made of plastic, it has a good weight to it, along with a large mirror inside. This year’s design has silver holo snowflakes on a grey/taupe background. The designs are under a thick plastic layer, so they won’t fade or rub off ~ two of the snowflakes have a raised design as well. The base is a pale gold that looks platinum when the light hits it a certain way. My photo does not do this compact justice as it is quite stunning.d

Have you tried Shiseido Maquillage Snow Beauty compact before? I am a huge fan for the finish of this product (not to mention the designs!) I have seen past LE of these compacts for well over $600.00

Remember the original Shiseido Zen Perfume? I found my original perfume bottle & this beautiful box it came in while cleaning out my closet ~ this is from the 1990’s, I think. I wish they had not reformulated it and I loved the original bottle. When I was a kid, my mom had this perfume too and I would just love to play with the bottle as it felt like ceramic velvet to me (if that makes any sense)… I do love makeup ~ I would never be able to do the no-makeup makeup look!

I purchased the Synchro Skin Glow Cushion in N2 and I love its finish ~ it’s a little light for me right now, so I just ordered the N3 to see if that can help with my summer skin.  Allure Best of Beauty Winner Daiya Fude Face Duo Brush ~ this is a two ended brush designed to PICK up cream and liquid products with its gel soft tip, so you don’t have to stick your finger in the pot ~ dab on your face and then buff out with the soft but dense brush. This is one of the best brushes I have tried and I am hooked.

I use it with the Minimalist Whipped Powder Blush,  which has a cream to powder finish and is alas, discontinued ~ I am hoping Shiseido brings this blush back as it is one of the best blushes I have tried. I have the color Sayoko, which is red, but it isn’t clownish at all. The Daiya Fude Brush really helps to pick up just enough on its tip and then the brush side helps diffuse it into a soft natural look. No waste of product here!

Future Solution LX Total Radiance Foundation Broad Spectrum in Neutral 2:  This foundation isn’t inexpensive. It is the most expensive foundation I have ever used. And it is one of the best foundations I have ever used. Thankfully, this velvety formula only needs a little to provide a natural looking coverage.

It states that it is full coverage, but I find it to be natural to medium with one application and it can be built up to full coverage if need be. I wish it came in more shades, as I want everyone to experience this Japanese foundation.⁣

The decadence is in this jar ~ look how stunning that is, with its opalescent cap and heavy glass bottom. The foundation is a liquid cream ~ it isn’t runny or thick. My complaint is that it is a jar and not a pump applicator, but I guess Shiseido isn’t worried about germies. I use a clean beauty blender and dip into the jar, then dot around my face, then blending it out. This does need hydrated skin, but NOT too hydrated.

Dry skin may not like this, because it has a semi-matte finish, even with the name of “radiance“.  It is not dewy at all. However, I like it because with my oily but aging skin, where foundations seem to LOVE my fine lines/pores by accentuating them, Shiseido Future Solution LX does not do that. It blurs and diffuses those pesky imperfections due to the passing of time, but it does it so it looks natural and not cakey. Totally love this foundation. Pricy? You bet. But as they say, I’m worth it.⁣
